Bioinformatician (12-Month Contract)

Location: IRCCS “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza” – U.O. Cancer Biomarkers, ISBReMIT, San Giovanni Rotondo, Apulia, Italy

I am looking for a Bioinformatician for a 12-month Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration Contract (renewable) to join the Cancer Biomarkers Unit at IRCCS Fondazione Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza.

The successful candidate will contribute to bioinformatics analyses supporting translational and biomedical research activities. The starting salary is 25k Euro gross per year, negotiable based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform bioinformatics analysis of genomic and multi-omics datasets.
  • Support the analysis and interpretation of sequencing data for research projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic scientific environment.

    Required Qualifications

    Candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications in their CV:

    • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related discipline.
    • 1–2 years of proven experience in sequencing data analysis.
    • Experience in the analysis of RNA-seq, Whole Exome Sequencing (WES), and single-cell RNA-seq datasets.
    • Proficiency in R, Python, and Bash.
    • Knowledge of basic biostatistical methods, including descriptive statistics and parametric/non-parametric tests.
    • Good command of English.

      For degrees obtained outside Italy, official recognition of equivalency by the competent Italian authorities is required before the application deadline.

      Preferred Qualifications

      The following qualifications will be considered an advantage:

      • Knowledge of C++ and C#.
      • Experience with spatial transcriptomics and other spatial omics data analysis.
      • Knowledge of advanced biostatistical methods, including regression, survival analysis, classification, and machine learning techniques.
      • Familiarity with bioinformatics workflows, reproducible data analysis, and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
      • Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple research projects and technologies.
      • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
