PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Multiscale Simulation and AI4M
About this role
Multiple fully funded PhD and postdoctoral positions are available in our research group at Harbin Institute of Technology. We welcome highly motivated candidates interested in designing advanced alloys and functional materials through computational modeling, machine learning, and experimental approaches.
Successful candidates may work in one or more of the following projects:
- Design of refractory alloys via high throughput computations and machine learning.
- Design of advanced materials via high throughput computations and machine learning.
- Integration of simulations, experiments, and materials characterization.
- Prediction of heat transfer and the temperature distribution during the printing process.
Candidate profile
PhD applicants
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, computational science, physics, chemistry, or a related discipline
- Prior experience in computational materials science, alloy development, additive manufacturing, or materials characterization is preferred and will strengthen the application
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment
Postdoctoral applicants
- A PhD in materials science and engineering or a closely related field
- Strong research experience in at least one of the areas listed above
- A solid publication record and the ability to conduct independent research
- Experience with DFT, MD, FEM, alloy design, additive manufacturing, or advanced materials characterization is highly desirable
- Strong scientific writing, communication, and teamwork skills
Research Environment and Support
Our group provides:
- Full financial support for PhD students and postdoctoral fellows
- Experimental facilities for alloy preparation, processing, and development
- Advanced characterization facilities, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
- Access to high-performance computing resources for multiscale simulations
- Close mentorship and valuable scientific guidance from leading researchers
- Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and conference participation
